New Pocket Parks Bring Fresh Green Spaces to Birmingham
October 19, 2025

Four new Pocket Parks have officially opened across Birmingham, transforming small, previously underused areas into vibrant green havens where local residents can come together to meet, play, and enjoy nature.
These new parks have been developed in partnership with the National Trust and Birmingham City Council, working hand in hand with local community groups to co-create, design, and plant their very own green spaces.
The community groups involved include:
-
free at last – Nechells
-
Friends of Seven Streets Pocket Park – Balsall Heath
-
260th Birmingham Scout Group – Tyseley
-
Khawateen Creative Minds – Hay Mills
Each group has played a vital role in shaping their Pocket Park, ensuring the spaces reflect the needs, culture, and creativity of the communities who will enjoy them most.
The project has been made possible thanks to funding from the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (#UKSPF).
From creating safe and welcoming play areas for children, to planting wildlife-friendly habitats, these new parks are more than just green spaces—they’re places for connection, wellbeing, and community pride.
